God's Word Stands Forever

We are told in the Bible that everything in this world will be burned up one day. In fact, the heavens will be burned up, as well. Then, God will create new heavens and a new earth which are not tainted by sin. Therefore, we must not put our trust in the things of this world. We need to trust in things that last forever.

One of those things is the Word of God. (Isaiah 40:8) God assured His people that the grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of God stands forever. That should be very reassuring to all of us, as believers. Our Bibles contain the timeless, eternal truths of God which will never be destroyed or refuted by anyone.

This is why we should treasure the Word of God. We can hold in our hands the very words of God, and we can read them, so that we know them and live by them. Then, we will be right with God and know the truths which will establish us on solid ground forever.

We know the Word of God is truth. (John 17:17) We know our Lord Jesus is the Truth. (John 14:6) We have the Holy Spirit in us, who is the Spirit of truth.(John 14:16-17) Therefore, if we will read the Word of God it will point us to Jesus and to all of His truth. Then, our lives will be built on the enduring principles of God's Word forever.
