When God Has Spoken

We live in a world today where we can't tell if people will do what they say they will do or not. Even when people make plans to do something, they often changes their mind at the last minute. Sometimes, they do not even finish what they have started. People are unreliable, but God is always reliable.

Isaiah assured the people of God's reliability. (Isaiah 14:27) He told them that the Lord of Heaven's Armies has spoken - who can change His plans? When His hand is raised, who can stop Him? Of course, the answer is that God won't change His plans and no one can stop Him once He begins to do His will.

This is one reason we are so adamant about the reliability of the Bible. It is obvious that God inspired all of the writers, since there is a supernatural unity of all the books, and all the prophecies have come true, exactly as they were given. Only God could do that, so we need to trust His Word. He will not change what He has planned from before the world began.

Also, God won't stop in the middle of His plans. Once He lifts His hand to do something, He will finish. We could not have stopped the Cross of Jesus from taking place, and we won't be able to stop Him from returning when God tells Him to come back. We simply need to read His Word, heed His Word, trust Jesus as Lord, and be ready for Him to come at any time.
