God Cares for the Humble
There is no one as mighty, powerful, and majestic as God. If anyone has a reason to be proud, it is God. However, that goes against God's nature. Yes, He desires for us to praise Him and worship Him, but He doesn't do that out of pride. It is for our good that He expects us to give Him all the glory. All the time, God promotes humility among all people.
David taught this to the people of Israel. (Psalm 138:6) He said that even though God is great, He cares for the humble, but at the same time He keeps His distance from the proud, not helping them. This is a great principle for all of us, as we seek to live lives that please God.
A humble person is not weak, but a humble person realizes that he couldn't do anything without the Lord. Every ounce of strength that we have comes from the Lord. All of our intelligence and our abilities come from Him. Without the Lord, we could do nothing, so we must not promote ourselves, but give God the credit for everything that is good.
The proud are distanced from the Lord, because He knows pride is the attitude which breeds all types of sins. He can't help a proud person or care for his needs, because that would encourage him to be more proud. Therefore, God stays away from the proud, but cares for the humble. That way, He wants the proud people to turn to Him and be blessed.
