Failing Under Pressure

Most of us can succeed when we have the right conditions. It is only when we encounter difficulties and pressure that we start to have trouble. We can tell ourselves that it was our circumstances that caused us to fail, but that is not true. If we have the strength we should have, we should will be able to succeed almost all of the time. That is God's will for us.

There is a proverb that gives us this admonition. (Proverbs 24:10) If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small. Let's let that truth sink in. Pressure doesn't cause failure. A lack of strength is what causes us to fall short of success.

As Christians, we begin as babes in Christ. We are born again when we trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are new creatures, and we have new hearts. At that point, it is God's will for us to grow up in Christ. We should get stronger and stronger spiritually, as we take in His Word and allow the Spirit to guide us.

The truth is that God has provided all we need to live godly lives. (II Peter 1:3-4) It is His will for us to be conformed to the image of Christ, so that is definitely possible. (Romans 8:29) However, it is up to us to yield ourselves to the leadership of the Spirit, so that our minds are renewed, and we become strong in the Lord by the power of His might. (Romans 12:1-2) Then, we can succeed under great pressure.
