God's Light and Truth

 It is simply amazing how much difference light makes. Without it, it is impossible to see things with our eyes, and even when the light is there but very dim, we can't discern very much, at all. However, when there is abundant light, we see clearly. The same can be said for truth. When we have the entire truth about something, we can see it clearly. God's light and truth are exactly what we all need to live well.

David cried out to God for His direction. (Psalm 43:3) He asked God to send out His light and His truth. He knew he needed them to guide him. He asked God to lead him to God's holy mountain, where He lived, so David could enjoy the presence of God and see Him clearly.

God's light is a blessing that comes from His Holy Spirit. It is the job of the Spirit to "illuminate" the Word of God for us, and to show us God's meaning. If we try to go by what we think the Bible means, we will miss the real intention of God in having men write it. We never want to do that, but we want to ask the Spirit to shine God's light for us, like David did.

Also, God's truth is always true in every place every time. It is absolute truth. No one can refute it. God's truth always leads us in the right direction for our life. If we try to go by the truth of this world or the truth as we see it, we will get very confused and lose our way in life. The great thing is that God's Word is truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth to make sure we can always know God's truth.
