Only a Sling and a Stone

God can bring great victories in our lives using only what we have in our possession. He doesn't need for us to add anything else. That should be a great encouragement to all of us. There is no need to give in to the idea that we can't triumph over our enemies because we lack money or resources.

David triumphed over the giant Philistine warrior, Goliath. (I Samuel 17:50) Most of us are familiar with this historical account. However, have we noticed that David triumphed with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword? He did not own a sword. He was offered one by King Saul, but God used only what he possessed on his own.

Many of us consider ourselves "middle-class" people. We don't have a lot of money. We are not famous and powerful. This makes us think we are at a disadvantage when it comes to living a victorious, satisfied life. That is never the case when we have the Lord on our side. We are able to overcome any giants.

In fact, God loves to use only what we have, so that He gets the glory. He can and will use our intellect and our resources to do whatever needs to be done to give us the abundant life. (John 10:10) He has made us who were are, and He has given us what we have, so He can use what we have in a unique way to live for Him and to overcome any obstacles. Let's trust Him in that!
