My Strength and My Song

We all need strength to live our lives every day. Also, we need a song in our hearts and on our lips, or we will get discouraged and depressed. Who is your strength and song? People try to lean on all kinds of things for strength and for relief from the stresses of life, but only one source is effective to have a victorious life every day. That source is the Lord. Yes, the God of the Bible, Father, Son, and Spirit. He can and will give strength and a song to those who know Him and trust in Him. Moses and the people of Israel confessed this in a song of praise after being delivered from Pharaoh and his army by crossing the Red Sea on dry ground. (Exodus 15:2) They sang together that the Lord was their strength and their song. He was the One who had given them victory. He was their God, and they were giving Him the praise, their father's God, and they were exalting Him. That is what all of us, as believers, should be doing all of the time.

Real strength is not physical strength. Our real power comes from the Lord. When He fills us with His Spirit, it energizes our bodies and our spirits, so we have all kinds of strength to do what God leads us to do. Therefore, we must go to the Lord daily and confess our need for His strength and rely on Him fully. Peace and joy do not come from earthly happiness or from trying to work up a good feeling. Our joy comes from the Lord, and He fills us with Himself. He is the song in our hearts, and when we are totally His, the song is on our lips continually. When He is our God, we will be praising Him and exalting Him for all to see. Therefore, if our lives are not going well, I can assure us all that is the reason. We must know Christ as Lord and Savior. He will give us victory over sin and Satan. We can't do it ourselves, but He is our strength. Then, we have a song of salvation victory to sing. We have all we need to live for Him and finally go to be with Him in heaven.
