My Food
We eat food to satisfy our hunger and to provide the nutrients we need to be healthy. Some of us just eat whatever we want to eat. Others of us consider what are the best things to eat. If we simply eat what tastes good to us, we could do more harm to our body than good. However, if we eat the right balance of foods, we can enhance our health and our life. All of this shows the importance of food for our life. The same could be said for our spiritual satisfaction in life. What brings us satisfaction and good spiritual health? Jesus used this analogy to teach us an important truth. He told His disciples that His food was to do the will of Him who sent Him into the world and to finish the work the Father had for Him. It is easy to see that Jesus put a priority on both of these things, and thus, He lived a very fulfilled and successful life. I pray we will do the same thing.
If we are going to live and love like Jesus, we can't just do whatever we want to do every day. Instead, we have to ask God to show us His will for us for that day. (Ephesians 2:10) Then, we need to be intentional about carrying out His will. That is our spiritual food. When we do His will like Jesus did, we will be spiritually strong and mature. Our life will be very fulfilling and joyful. Also, if we do this day after day, week after week, and year after year, we will finish all the work the Lord has for us to do. We will impact countless lives directly and by all of our obedience to the Lord. When Jesus was about to go to the Cross, He told the Father He had finished the work He had for Him to do. (John 17:4) He was referring to His process of preparing His disciples to carry on God's kingdom work after His death, resurrection, and ascension. Finally, from the Cross Jesus said, "It is finished." He was proclaiming that He had done all the will of the Father to provide salvation to the world. All of that happened because Jesus was doing God's will as His food. We must do the same to see the same results in our life and be ready to stand before the Lord.
