Jesus's Sheep

Jesus used many familiar analogies so the people could understand important spiritual truths. All of the people were very familiar with shepherds and how they cared for their sheep. Therefore, Jesus used these things to show Himself to the people and to explain what it was like to be His follower or disciple. This is a great way of getting the truth across, because Jesus loves us and cares for us, as believers, and we are helpless without Him, like sheep without a shepherd. Let's see what Jesus told the people on one occasion. (John 10:27-28) Jesus told them that His sheep hear His voice. He knows each one of them, and they follow Him. He gives eternal life to each of His sheep, and no one will snatch them out of His hand. That is an amazing message for all of us to understand and apply in our lives.

If we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we hear His voice speaking to us. It can be an audible voice or simply a voice speaking right to our hearts. However, once we know Him, we know what He is saying to us. This shows that He knows us. We have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus. We know He is the Shepherd, and as our Shepherd, we must do what He says to live as we should. That is why all of His sheep follow Him. We know it is for our good. Also, we are very secure in our relationship with Jesus. He is All-Mighty and All-Wise God, so no one will snatch us out of His hand. We will have an eternal relationship and security in knowing Him. I pray that we all have entered into this salvation relationship with Jesus. If not, let me urge you to go to Jesus today. Tell Him that you know you have sinned, and you need forgiveness. Then, tell Him you are turning away from doing life your way and all of your sins, and you are trusting in Him and His death, burial, and resurrection to forgive your sins. At the same time tell Him you are surrendering to Him as Lord of your life forever. You will trust Him every day, worshiping and serving Him gladly. If you will do that sincerely, you will become one of Jesus' sheep. Then, find a good church, so you can be in a loving flock and follow Jesus together with them.
