Being in Awe of God

This world in which we live is filled with things that are very temporal or temporary. Much of what we do and what we have has a limited life. Then, when we work and try to accomplish things, we realize that we are very inadequate, so that what we do is imperfect. Many of us search for things that are better, things that are lasting, but they are hard to find. They are hard to find, that it, until we find God. Then, we find out what Solomon told us. (Ecclesiastes 3:14) He had found out that everything God does will last forever. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God works in these ways so that we, as people, will see His works and be in awe of Him. Then, we will be drawn to trust Him completely. I pray we have all come to that point of faith in the Lord.

I wonder if we are really in awe of God as we should be? I am afraid we are too busy with our regular activities and responsibilities to stop and consider the works of God. When was the last time we took a walk, not for exercise only, but to drink in God's creation and marvel at His wisdom? When was the last time we took stock of the works of God in our lives? I hope we can and will remember when He saved us from our sins, as we trusted in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I pray we know that God's work of redemption is us is eternal. That should put us in awe of God's love and forgiveness. When was the last time we sat with our Bible and read the accounts of Christ's death and resurrection? If we will do that often, we will rejoice in the fact that His work was perfect in paying for the sins of mankind. Nothing can be added to it or taken away. Everything God does is perfect, so we should glory in His works and give Him credit for being the Only One who is eternally perfect in every way. What a wonderful God we serve!
