I Thirst for You
We all need water to live. We need to make sure we get enough water each day, or it will effect our health badly. There are even experts who have figured how many glasses of water we need each day. One of the worst things that can happen to us is to die from thirst. However, there is something that is worse than that. We can be spiritually dead from a lack of Living Water. If we fail to drink of the Living Water, Jesus, we never have eternal life. Then, once we know Him, we need to drink from His fountain every day to refresh our spirit and grow in Him. David knew this truth well. (Psalm 63:1) He knew that God was his God. He eagerly sought Him each day. David thirsted for God. His body fainted for Him in a dry, desolate land without water. I pray we all drink freely from Jesus often.
Just like the woman at the well. Jesus is telling all of us that He is the Living Water. He is the Only One who can quench our spiritual thirst and give us real life. Once we trust Jesus, we realize how wonderful it is receive from Him all that we need to fulfill our soul. Then, we do not want to try to get satisfaction from anything in this dry, desolate land without water. We thirst for Him. In fact, our body faints from a lack of sustenance from the Lord. That is why we never fail to spend time in His presence every day. We drink from His Word and from prayer until we are fully hydrated by the Lord Jesus, and we are ready for whatever happens the rest of the day. I pray that each of us will know how wonderful it is to have our spiritual thirst quenched every day, so we can live for Jesus well.
