Everything for Life and Godliness
God doesn't just forgive our sins and send us out into this sinful world to fend for ourselves. No, but He is a loving Father. As our Heavenly Father, He feels responsible for us, since He is the only One capable to meeting all of our needs well. Therefore, from the moment of our salvation He grants to all of His children everything pertaining to life and godliness. (II Peter 1:3) This great wealth for our Christian life comes through the true knowledge of Jesus, the One who called us by His glory and excellence. I believe this gives us great hope to be victorious in our everyday lives and to live well for Jesus each day.
God knows each of us completely. He knows all of our strengths and weaknesses. He knows which spiritual gifts He gives us at salvation and why we need those gifts.. He is the One who sets the purpose for our life and lays out the things we are to do, even before we get saved. (Ephesians 2:10) That is why He has the power to grant us everything we need for life and godliness. He not only sustains our physical life with all of its needs. He gives us everything we need to live godly lives before Him and others. He grants us all of these things through true knowledge of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Jesus lived a sinless life, and He was tempted in all of the ways we are tempted,. Therefore, when we see how Jesus handled life and remained faithful to His Father, we see how we can do it, too. We can't do it on our own, but we can rely on the divine power of God to live like Jesus. Thus, we fulfill our calling as a believer, which is to show forth the excellent glory of Jesus in how we act and live. We will never be perfect like Jesus, but others will be able to see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven, just like Jesus said.
