The Thief or Jesus?
We have a clear choice for our life, even though many people do not want to admit it. We can follow the Lord or Satan. There is not another option. We can trust in the Lord and live His way, or we can go our own way, which is really following Satan. Why do I say that? He is the one who tries to get us to rebel against God and just seek what we think will bring us pleasure. That is his trap, and many people go that direction. Jesus made this choice very clear in His parable of the Good Shepherd. (John 10:10) He called Satan the thief, because all he wants is to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus, on the other hand, came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Which way will we choose? It makes all the difference in our life.
Yes, we can go our own way. The Lord allows us that choice. If we go our own way, we have real joy stolen from us, and all we have is temporary happiness that doesn't satisfy. We do things that are harmful for us, and many of them lead to physical death. They all lead us down the broad road that leads to eternal death and separation from God and others in hell. Also, we will see the destruction of our relationships, our finances, and our emotional well-being. Life is miserable when Satan leads us down his path. However, Jesus' way is to give us "real" life. In fact, when we choose the Lord, we have life abundantly. Jesus gives us many quality relationships, lasting marriages, and happy families. He shows us how to be healthy and to improve our emotional well-being. In fact, He builds up everything good in our lives. He loves us and wants all that is best for us. See what I mean? Let's follow the Good Shepherd.
