Our Sacrifice to God
I wonder what the value of the sacrifice we give to God is? Yes, I know we do not bring animal sacrifices to honor the Lord and worship Him today, but we still offer sacrifices. One thing is for sure, our sacrifice needs to be worthy of the One to whom we are offering it. If not, there is a huge problem. That is what God told His people by the prophet Malachi. (Malachi 1:8) He asked them some questions. When they offered a blind animal as sacrifice to God, was it not evil? When they offered lame and sick animals, was it not evil? Of course, the answer is yes. Then, God asked, if they would offer the same to their governor, and if they did would he accept it and be pleased with them? Of course, not. The governor would not receive it kindly, and neither does God. We need to reflect on this truth.
When we offer God our service in ministry, do we offer our best? Do we give Him all of our talents and time as an offering to Him for being our Lord and saving us from our sins? What we do for God ought to be far better than what we do at work. If our boss would not be pleased with our effort, then, we can be sure that God would not be pleased, either. Also, the sacrifice of our lips is a sacrifice to God today. When we sing praises to God, do we sing them from the depths of our heart with thankfulness and joy? If we only sing half-heartedly, God is not pleased with our worship. Even if we are not a great singer, we can sing with passion and give God all we can for His glory. God deserves our best in all we do. If we fail to honor Him with our best sacrifices, it is a sin. God does not accept what we give, and we are left feeling empty, because we failed to give a worthy sacrifice to our Lord and Savior.
