Jesus Kept Increasing

It is really a challenge for us to understand completely how Jesus could be fully God and fully man at the same time, but He was. I am constantly amazed when I think the Creator of all that was made, submitted to being born into this world as a baby as the means of His incarnation. Yes, God took on human flesh. Jesus was just like us, except that He never sinned. That means Jesus had to grow up to maturity and go through everything we have to go through. His human strength and understanding had to increase over time, until He fully saw what the Father wanted Him to do for us and how He should do it. I know that is hard to grasp, but it is what the Bible says. After Jesus went to the Temple for Passover, when He was 12 years old, He went home with His earthly parents. Then, the Bible tells us what happened. (Luke 2:52) Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men. That is amazing but true. Jesus had to keep increasing to carry out the will of His Heavenly Father.

If Jesus kept increasing in all these ways, I believe it is God's will for all of us to do the same thing. We need to keep increasing in wisdom. Remember, all wisdom comes from God. Therefore, we have to stay close to the Lord, read His Word, and allow the Holy Spirit to show us the wisdom of God through each circumstance in our life. We should never stop increasing in wisdom, since God's wisdom is so far above human wisdom. At the same time, we increase in stature, or we have physical growth. Our physical body is the vehicle by which we interact with this world and other people. If we are not strong physically, it hampers us in what we need to do in serving the Lord. We must also keep increasing in favor with God and other people. We do this by knowing how to please the Lord and how to relate to other people well. The more we do that, the more the Lord and others look upon us in a favorable way. This makes all of life go so much better. Therefore, let's keep increasing in all the right ways, like Jesus did, and let's see what the Lord does in us and through us.
