The One on whom God Looks
God has many things to occupy His attention. He can select anything in the universe to spend time thinking about. Just think of how many people there are in the world today. On top of that, God created all of the animals. He named every star, too, so they are known by Him. However, there is one thing that always attracts God's attention. (Isaiah 66:2) When God sees a humble person with a contrite spirit, a person who trembles at His Word, God spends extra time and energy with him or her. I think that tells us a lot about God.
God is humble. In fact, Philippians 2 tells us that Jesus "humbled" himself to become a man to die for us. That was the height of humility. God longs for us to be like Jesus. When He finds a humble person like Moses, He is ready to reward his humility. Also, God is looking for people with a contrite spirit. These are those of us who readily admit our sins and weaknesses. When we do that, it catches God's eye, since there are so few like that in this world. All of us are sinners, but few want to confess our sins and do something about them. Finally, God looks on us, when we tremble at His Word. His Word is powerful and perfect. When we read it, we should feel the effects of God's truth upon us. Then, we tremble when we consider how to live it out well and not fail God. I pray we are all people with whom God desires to spend His time, because He knows we are pliable and moldable, so we will listen to Him and become more like Jesus.
