An Unbeliever's Testimony

In court, a testimony is the account of what we have seen or heard. In life, our testimony is what we believe because of what we have seen and heard. Every believer has a testimony of how he or she came to know the Lord Jesus. Then, we also have testimonies about things that God does in us and through us. We need to share our testimonies as often as possible to give all of the glory to the Lord. However, there are times when even an unbeliever has a testimony about something God has done. Surprising? Yes, that may be a surprise, but it is true. Jeremiah gave us one such testimony from the Babylonian captain of the guard who freed him after Jerusalem was taken by the Babylonian army. (Jeremiah 40:2,3) Even this unbeliever could see that the Lord God of Israel had promised the calamity upon Jerusalem, and He had brought it to pass as He promised. He knew it was because of the sins of God's people. They did not listen to His voice. Let's think about this for a minute.

God can reveal Himself to anyone, and He does reveal Himself to everyone. Yes, even an unbeliever, who is dead in sins, has a heart, and God can speak to that heart and show Himself clearly. They can see Him clearly through His actions, and through the actions and words of God's children. Then, they have a choice to make. Will they put their trust in Jesus or not? That is up to each individual. This is the main reason why our lives, as believers, have to be consistent in living by faith in the Lord and doing His will in the power of the Spirit. It might be our life or testimony God uses to communicate to an unbeliever. Let's all pray for God to use us in this way for His glory and the upbuilding of His kingdom.
