What Kind of Beloved is Your Beloved?
I wonder what attracted us to our spouse? When we find that special person whom we love more than any other person on earth, we are able to name several qualities that make him or her just right for us. I believe that is what all single people are praying for, too. They want a very unique individual that God designed just for them. Then, when we are asked to give those qualities, our face brightens up, and we share from our heart the special characteristics of our beloved. That is just what Solomon's wife shared with the ladies around her. (Song of Solomon 5:9) Then, they wanted to hear more because of her enthusiasm, and as they saw her bond with her husband. They could not quite understand her feelings when she could not be with him, since they did not know him like she did. I hope we can all relate to this in a couple of ways.
If we haven't stopped to thank the Lord for our spouse in a while, I would encourage all of us to do that now. Just stop and expound to God what kind of beloved you have, and show your immense gratitude for His gift to you. Take time to tell others the great qualities of the one who love. Make sure they know how special they are to you. This is even more true about Jesus. Jesus is our Beloved, and we are His beloved. I know we sing about our love for Jesus as we worship in our congregation. That is great, but we should be ready to tell others what we see in Jesus and our great love for Him. We should do that in such a way that people would marvel at how much we love Him and how much He loves us. Knowing Jesus is the greatest blessing in the world, and really knowing how He is the Perfect One for us, to meet every need we have, is just icing on the cake. Let's all tell the world what kind of Beloved we have in Jesus and in our spouse.
