All the People and All the Words

The Bible speaks of there being a famine of the Word of God in the land. I believe that describes the situation in America today. Even many believers do not really read and know the Word of God. Then, the rest of the people really have no true knowledge of what God has revealed to us in the Bible. The ones who know some of it are often against it. A large percentage of the believers do not believe the Bible is without error. We are in a crisis. Israel was in such a crisis when Josiah became the king of Judah. He was a good king after several very evil kings. He set out to do God's will and to rebuild the Temple. As they repaired the house of God, they found the books of Moses, the books of the Covenant. These were read to the king, and he realized the crisis their unbelief had caused. King Josiah took things into his own hands. He had all of the people gathered to Jerusalem, from the greatest to the least, the priests, the Levites, everyone. (II Chronicles34:30) Then, the king himself read all of the words of the book of the covenant to all of the people. I long to see that in America today.

Every person is precious in the sight of God. He loves each person, and He wants what is best for us. That is why He gave us the Bible. It reveals Him and His perfect will to anyone who will read it. It is all important, like Jesus told us. What if we had a leader who would share the Word of God with all of the people? That could be a turning point for our country. We have religious freedom, and it would be very legal for him to do this. Just think of a speech to a joint session of Congress with all of the TV and Internet networks broadcasting it, in which the President would read the book of John for all the people. That would have great clout for many people. Will you join me in praying for God to give us a Josiah to lead us? That is one very good way to pray for our country to come to the Lord.
