The Sacrifice for Our Sins
Did you know that someone had offered a sacrifice for your sins? Many people do not realize this has happened. They don't even think they need a sacrifice for their sins. However, the writer of Hebrews made it clear that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. He was expressing the truth of God that has been in effect since Adam and Eve. For a long time the blood of animals was shed in the Tabernacle and the Temple for the sins of individuals. Then, God sent Jesus into the world to be the Ultimate Sacrifice for all sins. He did this in a very dramatic way by shedding His blood and dying on the Cross of Calvary. Then, Jesus took one more step that the write of Hebrews explained for us all. (Hebrews 9:24) Jesus went up to Heaven to the Holy Place and offered Himself to God as a sacrifice for our sins, once and for all. What a blessing! No more animal sacrifices. In fact, no more sacrifices, at all. Jesus paid it all. All to Him we owe.
The sacrifice for Jesus of Himself for our sins should teach us a valuable lesson. Only Jesus' blood could pay for our sins. He already gave it for us, so we can be saved. There is nothing we can ever add to that sacrifice. We can't earn our salvation by anything we do. Jesus purchased it with His blood. However, He doesn't automatically apply His blood to our sins. He is waiting for us to realize what He has done, so we can turn from our sins, trust Him to forgive us, and surrender to Him as the Lord of our life. After all, that is the least we can do, since He gave Himself for us. I pray we will all give Jesus the love, honor, and trust He deserves, so He can save us from our sins by His grace, a free gift to us. Nothing is more important than that act of love and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
