Time's Up
When we play some sports, we use a clock to tell when the game comes to an end. Life is not that way. There is no clock that we can see. Only God knows when our time is up. Therefore, we have to be ready to meet God at any moment. I wonder if we are ready? God did everything He could to get Israel's attention, so they would get ready to meet Him, but they would not listen. (Amos 4:12) They ignored God, but when their time was up, they had to face Him. It was not a pretty sight. I pray that we will learn from their example and be ready.
Time is a a rare commodity. We never know how much time we have, but once we have used our time, it is gone. We can never get any of it back. Therefore, every moment of time is precious. We must not squander any of it. When we wander from God, get into sin, and rebel against Him, we are throwing our time away. The only way to redeem our time is to use it for the right things, the things that have eternal consequences and rewards. If we waste our time, God will be very stern with us when we meet Him. He will require us to give a reason for why we did not listen to His efforts to draw us to Him. Then, when we have no sufficient reasons, which none of us will have, He will chastise us severely. However, if we have used our time for His purposes, He will rejoice with us over what has been accomplished, and He will tell us, "Well done, good and faithful servant." I pray we will decide now to redeem the rest of our minutes, so when our time's up, we will have a good meeting with God.
