God's Inspiration of the Bible

Jeremiah was called by God to be a prophet to the people of Israel and Judah, as well as, the other nations of the world. God gave him messages to deliver to these people at different times and in different ways. Then, one day God came to Jeremiah and told him to get a scroll and write down everything He had told him to say from the beginning of his ministry to the present day. (Jeremiah 36:2) This is an excellent example of how God inspired men to write down the 66 books of the Bible for us to have today. Let's see what we can learn from this about the inspiration of the Bible.

First of all, God used men to deliver His words to the people around them. This happened by the leadership of the Spirit, Who had anointed them to hear from God and to speak for Him. Then, God either directed them by the Spirit to write down His words or He led others to write down what they had said or done. He used the culture and vocabulary of the people He inspired, but He was able to guide them to write down His words without error, using their own personality and words. This is a wondrous miracle of God. He knew we needed a record of His words and actions for all generations to follow. We call this special revelation, and this is necessary for us to know God's will and do it in His way. That is why it is so important for us to read the Bible and to obey what we learn. Jesus told us that we were to live by "every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."(Matthew 4:4) We find those words in the Bible, so we should read it daily and digest it well.
