The Ministry of Holy Worship
There is a lot of preparation and hard work that goes into worshiping the Lord, our God. Believe me, it doesn't just happen. It takes a lot of people working together. I am afraid many people who simply attend church services do not realize what the ministry of worship entails and why it is so important. God knew these things very well. That is why He set aside one whole tribe of Israel to be in charge of worship in the Temple. That was the tribe or family of Levi, which we call the Levites. Of course, one family in that tribe, the family of Aaron, made up the priests who offered all of the sacrifices and carried out the worship in the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. Together, they were in charge of the place of worship and the times of worship and the ordering of the worship services. (I Chronicles 23:32) I want to expound on this as it affects us as Christians today.
We do not have Levites, but we have Worship Coordinators and Worship Teams. At North Henry we are so blessed to have Kyle and Amanda Denton as our worship coordinators. They lead our worship team which consists of the worship band, the sound booth crew, and others who assist in all kinds of ways. They make it look easy, but it is not. They put in a lot of time and prayer to truly lead our church family to worship. However, I want us to realize two more vital facts about worship. We are not an audience watching a performance. God is the audience, and we are the worshipers. It is up to us to follow the leadership of our worship leaders, so that our worship of holy God is worthy of Him. It is not just singing songs. Worship is our sacrifice of praise to God from our lips and our hearts.(Hebrews 13:15) It is engaging our whole person, body, soul, and spirit in giving God the glory due His name. Even in these times when we are not able to gather for worship, I pray that we are taking is seriously, so that we engage in meaningful worship in our homes that honors God. Then, I pray this has made all of us appreciate the act of coming together as a church family to lift our praise and worship to God each week.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 25-27.
