A Softening of God's Anger

Sin makes God angry. He hates sin. He knows how destructive it is for us as individuals, as families, and as a country. The more we sin, the angrier God gets with us, because He still loves, and it makes him angry to see what we are doing to ourselves. He is waiting for us to see our sins and cry out to Him, no matter how much we have sinned. Jehoahaz, King of Israel, prayed for a softening of God's anger toward Israel, when he saw the wretched conditions in his country. God listened. He had brought them under the brutalities of the King of Aram, because of their terrible sins, but God sent a savior to deliver them from that oppression. Finally, the children of Israel were able to live at peace in their own homes. (II Kings 13:4,5) Does that sound like something we need to do in America today? I think so.

America's sins are so many and so grievous to God. This is especially true since we were founded on a firm Judeo-Christian belief system. Now, we have so fully departed from that foundation that we are practicing the worst sins possible, and it is causing God to be very angry with us as a people. Yes, we may be believers, but we are still citizens of America, too. We have to take part of the responsibility for the degradation of our people. We must cry out to God for a softening of His anger. That is the only answer to our dilemma. We have Jesus as our Lord and Savior personally, but we need a savior for America right now to bring us out of the chaos caused by our national sins and point us back to truth and righteousness. I hope you will join me in praying for this, so we can once again live at peace in our own homes.
