Increasing in Faith and Love

What is the Lord longing to see in the lives of His children? We all need to reflect on the answer to this question, because God wants what is best for us. He wants our lives to abound with joy. However, if we do not have what He is looking for, our lives will be seriously lacking. That is why I believe what Paul told the Christians in Thessalonica is so important. (II Thessalonians 1:3) Paul knew God's heart and His desires, so let's see how He commends these believers.

Paul was thankful because he saw that the brothers and sisters in Thessalonica had faith that was flourishing. The reality is that our faith can always increase, and it should be flourishing more and more all of the time, as we grow in our relationship with the Lord. The worst thing that can happen in our lives is for us to see our faith diminishing. Without faith we can't please God, and Jesus rebuked believers for having a lack of faith many times while here on earth. I pray we will have flourishing faith all of the time, not just on special occasions. Also, the believers in Thessalonica were increasing in their love for one another. That is how it should be in the church family at all times. When our love is increasing, we have the unity of love in the body  that the Lord wants, and we will be seeing God work in us in great ways because of this. I pray that all of us will be increasing in faith and love all of the time. As we focus on drawing near to the Lord, I believe both of these things will happen as a result.
