Justified Before God

Most people believe there is a God. They believe there is an afterlife, and they are hoping to enter heaven for eternity. However, many people are unclear about what it takes to enter heaven. The most prevalent belief is that if a person is a good person, God will let him or her into heaven. There is a problem with this view. How good is good enough to please God, to be justified before God? Since there is no clear way to know that, all people can do is "hope" they get to heaven. Others think they will be able to present their case to God, and He will accept their defense of their lives. Again, there is no way to tell if that could ever work. The fact is that God's way is far different from either of these two ways to be justified before Him. (Galatians 3:11) We need to hear what God showed Paul, so we can know exactly what to do to get to heaven, beyond any doubt.

God gave us His law to show us that all of us are sinful. Since there is no sin in heaven, even one sin is too much for us to go to that perfect place. God realized that is what would happen when He gave people a choice of whether to obey Him or not. That is why He made another way to be forgiven of our sins and justified before Him. God's way is the road of faith. The righteous person, the person who is totally right with God, lives by faith. That type of faith is total dependence on Him and His provision for our sins. We have to cast ourselves on His mercy, believing that Jesus is Lord, and He died on the cross and rose again to pay for our sins. Then, as we trust Him to forgive us and to be the Lord of our lives, He pronounces us justified before Him. That means He pronounces us "just as if i'd" never sinned. Then, we know He has forgiven us, made us a citizen of heaven, and one day we will be with Him in heaven, because He promised that to all who live by faith in Him.
