Do You Believe This?

Jesus came to Bethany four days after the death of his dear friend Lazarus, and He asked Martha a very simple question after He gave her insight into who He was. He asked Martha, "Do you believe this?" The word believe means to put your faith in someone or something. Jesus was asking her if she had faith that He was the resurrection and the life. If she had that faith, it would completely change how she looked at death. (John 11:25,26) We need to hear what Jesus said and ask ourselves the same question.

Martha knew that Jesus could have kept her brother from dying, but when he died, she felt that there was nothing Jesus could do to give him life again. This showed that she did not know Jesus as well as she thought she did. He plainly told her that He was the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Him, even if he dies physically, will live. Also, everyone who believes in Him will never die. She did not understand until she saw her brother raised from the dead. However, do you understand this and believe this? Jesus is the all-powerful God; He is the resurrection. He can and will resurrect anyone He desires from physical death. However, there is much more still. He is the Life. When anyone believes in Him, He gives them eternal life, so they will never die. Yes, their body will die, but they will simply go from living here to living with Him in Heaven. Do you believe this? If we believe this, it no only changes our view of death, but it changes our view of life. We know we are secure in His mighty hands, so whatever happens to us, we have life forever through knowing Him. I pray we all have this sure belief and perspective.
