Plotting Against the Lord

I know there are a lot of people who are just ignorant of the Lord and His Word. They are guilty of sin, but they do not do it intentionally. That is why we need to help people see the Word of God and how important it is to follow it. However, there is a huge group of people in the world, who plot against God. They may not be thinking of it in just those terms, but they are willfully going against what they know to be God's will. They think they can win against God, or at least, they think they can get away with their plan. The prophet Nahum gave us a spiritual truth about this situation, as he prophesied the downfall of Nineveh. (Nahum 1:9) It is something for all of us to consider well.

Our downfall is pride. Pride leads to all types of sins. We think we know best, or we think that God's Word is out of date, so we can do things our own way. The problem is that any time we go against the plans of God or the declared will of God, He will bring what we are doing to complete destruction. In other words, it never makes sense to fight with God. If we see destruction in our lives, we need to ask ourselves, if we have brought it on ourselves by plotting to go against God. Then, we need to repent of our plotting and pride, so that we agree with God and do things His way. However, there are some of us, who are even so bold as to try the same thing or a variation of it, again. Nahum assures us that oppression or opposition to God will not be able to rise up the second time we try either. Therefore, we should stop bringing destruction on our lives and surrender to the All-powerful Lord. Then, what we do in His will is sure to prosper.
