A Characteristic of the Wise and the Righteous

God was gracious to show Solomon many things about people and this world. We are not as wise as Solomon, but we can observe the people around us and learn from them. What do you see when you observe truly wise people? The same is true for righteous people. When we observe them, we can learn much that will profit us. What have you learned from observing righteous people? Well, I know at least one thing about both groups. God showed this to Solomon. (Proverbs 9:9) I believe He wants all of us to see this characteristic today.

When a wise person gets instruction, he or she gets wiser still. When we teach righteous people, they learn more and more. Why is that true? A truly wise person sees the need for more wisdom and is always ready for more. A wise person never thinks that he is wise enough to stop growing in wisdom. The same is true for the righteous. When we teach a righteous person, he will learn more. Learning is the first step in being righteous. If we are going to be more righteous, we have to learn more of God's will and His ways, so we can do them. In both cases the wise and the righteous are constantly looking to the Lord and to other believers to gain more wisdom and righteousness. As long as we live, we should be hungry to have more of both. If that is a characteristic of our life, we are truly wise and righteous, and we will become more wise and more righteous each day. I pray that all of us will have that holy hunger.
