Vindication from the Lord
David's enemies were constantly attacking him. They often resorted to false reports and lies about him. As we all know, it is very difficult for us to combat lies and gossip about us. It can make us very angry. It can tempt us to lash out at the person speaking the lies and try to take vengeance on them. However, we know that course of action is always wrong because of what God's Word commands us. So, what recourse do we have? David showed us the answer to this very important question. (Psalm 26:1) Let's find out the answer from the Lord.
When we have been wronged by lies and gossip, so that there is no way for us to correct the misinformation or even to find everyone who heard it, we can go the Lord and ask Him for vindication. When we are vindicated, people will know that what has been said is false, so they will not believe it about us. Vindication is when the truth is seen clearly. God can do that for us, when we go to Him, instead of trying to take things into our own hands. However, there is one more facet of this vindication from the Lord. We have to have lived a life of integrity on a consistent basis, as well as, trusted in the Lord without wavering. Those two realities cause people to be skeptical when they hear lies about us. In fact, they may know us and our actions so well that they will not believe what is said from the very start. Therefore, if we are faithful to the Lord, people of integrity, when we are wronged in this way, we simply go to the Lord and cry out to Him to vindicate us as David did. Then, we leave the rest up to the One who loves us so. He has the power to show anyone the truth.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 27-29.
