Whom Should I Fear?
David fought many battles. He was personally attacked and hunted by King Saul and others. We might think that fear would have been a big part of David's life, but it wasn't. In fact, he could proclaim with confidence that even if an army was deployed against him, his heart would not be afraid. (Psalm 27:1,3) That seems to be amazing until we consider the reason for his lack of fear. I believe we can all have this same deliverance from the fear of men and what they can do to us, if we will do what David did.
When we know the Lord, and we have a close personal relationship with Him, He is our light and our salvation. Think about it. When we have an abundance of light, and we can see all that is around us, we are not nearly as prone to be afraid. Also, when we know that the Lord is our salvation, we know He can deliver us from any situation. If He can save us from our sins, which He does when we call on Jesus as Lord and Savior, He can surely deliver us from anyone or anything else. David knew the Lord that way, and so can we. We can know that the Lord is the stronghold of our life. We can run to Him and be safe in His arms if we are ever attacked or in other danger. No one can defeat Him, so we are safe in Him. Also, the more we know the Lord, the more we know we can have confidence in Him. We see Him work in so many ways in our everyday life that we are assured that we can trust Him with our safety and well-being. Then, we can say with David, "Though an army deploys against me, my heart will not be afraid." I pray that all of us can have that same freedom from fear, because of our relationship with the Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 30-32.
