The Life of a Righteous Person
How would you characterize your life? Do you live a life of righteousness or not? There is a huge difference between the life of a righteous person and the life of an unrighteous person. God makes sure the results of righteous life are much better than any other lifestyle. The psalmist gave us an excellent word picture explaining the life of a righteous person. (Psalm 82:12-15) Let's look at the elements he included.
The righteous person thrives like a palm tree. Palm trees are known for being able to withstand strong winds that come with storms. They are also very flexible, which helps them in all kinds of weather. The bark is extremely hard to protect against insects and other damage. All in all, this shows the resilience of a righteous person, no matter what comes into his or her life. Then, a righteous life grows straight like a cedar in Lebanon. The wood is very resistant to aging, so it lasts a long time, too. So the righteous person is morally straight and able to last a long time, bearing fruit into old age. They remain healthy and growing, so they can declare that God is just. They are able to tell others that He is their Rock, and that God has no unrighteousness in Him. That is a strong testimony that continues for many years, because of God's blessings. I pray that we all will choose Jesus and choose to live a blessed life of righteousness.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 83-85.
