The Almighty
God has many titles. Each one gives us another facet of His character, so we can begin to appreciate the perfection of all He is. In his speech to Job, Elihu refers to God as The Almighty. (Job 37:23) That is a wonderful title for God. He is truly completely powerful. There is no one who can approach our God in any area of power. He can never defeated in any way. However, that is just part of His nature of being The Almighty.
Another aspect of God being The Almighty is that He will not violate justice and abundant righteousness. God is perfectly holy. He never does anything evil, and He always does the right thing in every situation. Since He is all-mighty, no one can cause Him to violate justice. No one can back Him into a corner and get Him to do something that is in any way unjust. Also, He never violates abundant righteousness. God doesn't just do what is right, He does righteousness abundantly, and there is no way to stop Him, because of His power. In other words, no one can ever claim that God has any weakness that would cause Him to fail to be just and righteous. All of these things are part of God being the Almighty. Remember this title the next time you pray. We can be assured that there is nothing that God can't do, except the wrong thing.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 38-41.
