Teaching God?
There are a lot of things that people do that are full of pride and arrogance. However, if I had to pick one that stands out above the rest, it would be presuming to teach God. Just the thought of the creation saying to the Creator, "Let me inform You of something, you may not know," is ludicrous. I believe we need to be very careful how we speak to Him and how we speak to other people. We must not appear to be instructing God on anything. Job knew this truth, and he tried to show it to his friends. (Job 21:22) Let's consider how this happens, so we can avoid it ourselves.
Job pointed out that some people die when they are in very good health. Then, there are others who suffer in ill health for a long time before they die. In either case we need to be careful not to tell God and others that this is not supposed to happen. God knows all of the facts about every life, so He is the only one to say when one comes to an end. He knows all of the conditions of the human heart that we can never fathom, so He is the only Perfect Judge of what should be done in each case. After all, He judges the angels, the demons, and Satan himself. Since God judges the exalted ones, He is very able to judge our lives. Therefore, the next time we pray, let's not pray like we are telling God new information. Let's not question His judgment in any matter. Let's take His Word as the truth and follow Jesus as the Truth. Let's not doubt either one, but depend on the One who knows it all.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 22-24.
