God's Greatness, Our Insignificance
Job suffered much and wanted to talk with God about his pain all the while. He felt like he had a case to present to the Lord that he was righteous, so his suffering was unjust. However, when God finally spoke to Job, he did not have an answer for the Almighty. All he could do was confess his insignificance and cover his mouth in humility. (Job 40:1-4) Can we just stop to get this scene in our hearts and minds? I believe it will help us in our relationship with the Lord our God.
God is the only Everlasting One. He had no beginning, and He will have no end. He is the Source of all wisdom and power, because if He had not created wisdom and power, there would be none. That is why we are totally unable to argue with Him. He is the Final Word on everything. When we are compared to God, we are just finite, corrupt creatures, because of our sin. We are insignificant when compared to Him. In fact, if He had not given us significance by providing His plan of salvation, we would be destined for insignificance forever. However, now we can be His children. We will never become significant like our Lord, but we have worth, meaning, and purpose when He knows us, and we come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Therefore, without Him, we are insignificant in the scheme of this vast universe.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 42 and Psalms 1-2.
