The Power of God for Salvation
There is only one way that anyone can be saved from their sins, whether they are a Jew or a Gentile. God sent His Only-Begotten Son to live a sinless life, to die on a cross to shed His blood for our sins, to be buried, and to be raised from the dead on the third day. That is what we call the gospel, because it is such good news for all people. (Romans 1:16) This is the message of salvation that we must spread in every way we can.
Paul said that he was not ashamed of the gospel. He knew the power in the message of the gospel to save souls who would turn to Christ in repentance and faith. Therefore, he determined in his life that he would never be ashamed of the gospel, so that he kept it to himself. He was actively sharing the good news everywhere he went. Now, it is up to us, as believers, not to be ashamed of the gospel, no matter how hostile the world is to this message of grace and redemption. It is the message they need to hear. Then, the Spirit can deal with their hearts and draw them to the Lord. They have the choice then to trust Christ. I pray that all of us will see many come to the Lord through the gospel. That is the greatest blessing we can receive besides our own salvation.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 3-5.
