Spreading the Word of the Lord

Acts 13 records the setting apart of Barnabas and Saul to be missionaries by the church in Antioch and the first part of their first missionary journey. God's power was with them, as He sent them out, and they spoke the Word with boldness. As they came to Antioch in Pisidia, the people were greatly attracted to the Word of the Lord, so that after one week of being there almost the whole city gathered to hear the Word of the Lord preached. Then, the Word began spreading spontaneously through the whole region. All of the disciples who we brought to the Lord were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. (Acts 13:44,49,52) That is exactly what we need to see happen in America today.

When the Word of God is proclaimed in power by a God called servant, it has great ability to attract people and to touch hearts. Then, if people will simply tell others what God has shown them, those people will be attracted to hear the Word for themselves. Finally, disciples of Jesus will be made when people turn from their sins to trust Jesus as Lord. The result is that the new disciples are filled with joy and the Holy Spirit, so they can continue the process of spreading the Word to others. When God's people truly allow the Lord to use them, there is a movement that grows and grows. Will you pray with me for this type of a movement to sweep our land? Will you do your part to spread the Word? If we will do those two things, we could see this happen again, and have the Word of the Lord spread across America with many disciples being made.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 14-16.
