Rejoicing in the Lord in the Hard Times

We all have had hard times, and we will have more of them in the future. That is just a part of life in this world. It is not the difficulty of the problems that matters, as much as it is our response to the problems. If we get negative, worry, and complain during the hard times, it multiplies the pain we experience. If we rejoice in the Lord during the hard times, it lifts us up to a higher level and eases our pain. The prophet Habakkuk knew that truth very well. (Habakkuk 3:17,18) Let's consider the perspective of the prophet and how to incorporate it into our lives.

What happens when our income fails, and we do not have enough food? Do we panic? Do we worry? I hope not. I hope that we have learned that we can always rejoice in the Lord. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways, and He is always there for us. Even when we think all is lost, He can and will raise up people or resources to help us. Also, we can never be thankful enough for our salvation which was provided for us free of charge by our Gracious Lord. We can always take joy in the fact that no matter what happens, we will be with Him in heaven when we leave this world, and we will be there for eternity. What a blessing! How could we not rejoice in a loving God like that, even in the worst of times?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zephaniah 1-3 and Haggai 1.
