God Heals the Brokenhearted

God does not want us to stay brokenhearted, even after He allows something to happen that causes us grief or brokenness. He wants to bind up our wounds and set us free from the pain we have experienced. (Psalm 147:3) The psalmist is clear about this. However, there are many people who have not received this message from God's Word, and they are staying in their brokenhearted state for extended periods of time. Let's see why this happens.

When our hearts break, it is easy to feel sorry for ourselves. It is easy to be depressed over our loss. If we are not so sad, then, we might get mad at God and others, which keeps us from experiencing His healing, too. Whatever the cause of our pain, the first step is to go to God and ask for healing. He will answer that prayer in the right way and at the right time. When we pray, we must believe that it is possible to be healed by the Lord, too. If we think our case is worse than anyone else, then, we will fail to truly seek the Lord's healing. Also, we must present our wounds to Him to bind them up for us. He is the great physician, so He knows just what to do and how to do it, so we can be well again.

However, some people think they have to remain sad, or they are destined to be depressed forever, so they do not go to God in faith to heal them. This grieves God's heart, because He wants to help, but He will not force Himself on anyone. I urge all of us who are brokenhearted to go to the Lord right now, and receive His healing, so we come out of our pain with stronger faith and more joy than ever before.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 149-150 and Proverbs 1-2.
