The Righteous is Generous
I am sure we have all noticed that there are two groups of people when it comes to sharing what we have been given by God. There are those people who take it all for themselves, and they even use what they have unwisely, so they often lack what they need. The other group of people are good stewards of what God gives, and in fact, they are generous in giving it away. David lets us know that this is more than a personality difference. It points to the very heart of the person. (Psalm 37:21) Let's think about what the Lord showed David to tell to us.
The wicked borrow things and money, but they do not pay it back. The sin in their lives leads them to misuse their money and the possessions of others, so that they do not care about paying others back. They just want things to satisfy their own desires for pleasure. This is a very sinful lifestyle and attitude to have in life. God can't bless those people. If there are believers, He still can't pour out his blessings the way that He would like.
However, the righteous is generous with God's money, and he gives it away to others. He does not horde it. He knows in his heart that he can trust God, and that if he does the right things with God's resources, God will meet his needs and even more. Therefore, he gives generously because of His trust in the Lord. I pray that we all will ask ourselves what group we fall into, and what do we need to change, if anything, to do God's will in righteousness.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 38-41.
