Be Strong
David was a warrior. He knew the strength and courage it takes to be victorious in this world. However, he also knew that we can never win without waiting on the Lord. (Psalm 31:24) That is why the Lord inspired him to tell all believers to be strong and to take courage, as we wait on the Lord. I believe all believers need to take this admonition to heart every day.
Sometimes, we can get the mistaken impression from the Bible that Christians are to be passive and weak in our approach to life. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It takes a huge amount of strength and courage to be a Christian in this evil world, and God is ready to give it to us as we wait on Him. All of our strength comes from Him, so we have to look to Him for whatever power we exhibit against Satan and his forces. Courage is ultimately about how much we trust in the power of God. If we know we are following His will, and we know He is on our side, then, we can have courage to tackle any situation. However, we should never advance without waiting on His word to tell us when to proceed and how to proceed. I know we have all failed in the past, when we rushed ahead of the Lord, so we never want to make that mistake again. We want to wait on the Lord and then, move out in His strength with great courage in our hearts.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 32-34.
