God's Covenant Blessing
God made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants. In that covenant He promised to bless those who blessed Abraham and curse those who cursed him. This was a perpetual covenant, which God has fulfilled, and He is still fulfilling it today. Yes, God has had to punish the Jewish people for their unfaithfulness at various times, but He has never forsaken them. They have been blessed beyond any other group of people. Haman found this out the hard way, when he plotted to kill all of the Jews in Persia. However, his wife and the wise men knew this all along. (Esther 6:13) God's covenant blessing to the Jews was evident to them, as it is to us today.
The covenant with Abraham was the basis of the Old Covenant with the Jews. Now, we are under the New Covenant in Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are God's people, and we enjoy His covenant blessings. He does not keep us from trials and even disasters. However, He never forsakes us, and His presence goes with us to guide us all the way. He is with us to keep us, and even if we lose our life in this world, we have eternal life with Him in heaven. Therefore, we can't lose. There is nothing man can do to us or nothing that can happen to us to separate us from the Lord and His covenant with us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 9-10 and Job 1.
