There is none like You

King Asa of Judah was in a dire situation. He found his army greatly outnumbered by a million man army from Ethiopia. The good thing was that Asa was a man of great faith in the Lord God. Therefore, he knew that he could call out to God any time, and he knew just how to do it.(II Chronicles 14:11) We can all learn from how Asa entreated the Lord for His help.

Asa cried to the Lord immediately when he realized his terrible need for help. He started off by praising God. He said, "There is none like You to help between the mighty and the weak." Asa affirmed the uniqueness of God. God is one of a kind. There is none like Him. He can help the mighty or the weak. He is all-powerful, so no one is too strong for Him. Then, Asa asked for help. He did not try to tell God what to do. He asked for help and told God they were relying on Him for their protection. He said they relied on His "name." The name of God represents all that He is in righteousness, holiness, power, and love. Finally, he asked God to not let man prevail against Him. He knew that he belonged to the Lord, and he knew that the army of Judah was made up of God's people. Therefore, by crying out to God not to be overcome by man, he knew that God would protect His own, as well, as Himself.  This is the kind of prayer believers need to pray in times of crisis. God will hear and answer, as He answered Asa.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 15-18.
