The Day after Easter
When Solomon dedicated the Temple he had built for the Lord after bringing up the Ark of the Covenant to assume its place in the Holy of Holies, it was a glorious day of celebration for all of the people. They offered sacrifices to the Lord, and Solomon prayed a long dedication prayer over the temple. Everyone was faithful to God that day, and it was easy. I wonder what happened the next day? Solomon challenged the people to remain faithful to the Lord, as they were that day, but did they do that?(I Kings 8:61) Today is the day after Easter for us. It is easy to be faithful on Easter, but what about today?
The life of faith is being "wholly true to the Lord." We must be surrendered to Him, so that every part of our being, body, soul, and spirit, is set on walking closely to Him. If not, we will drift away. We must constantly be "walking in His statutes and keeping His commandments." As Christians, the Holy Spirit leads us to do just that, if we stay filled with the Spirit constantly each day. The question is, "Will we do that?" We are the only ones who have the ability to determine our course in life. We set the sails to catch the wind of the Spirit and to move at the direction of the Lord, or we turn to go out on our own. I urge each of us on this day after Easter to remain wholly true to the Lord, no matter what comes. He will bless that lifestyle beyond anything we could imagine.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 11-13.
