God's Abundant Mercy

Ahab was the most evil king of the northern kingdom of Israel. Between him and his pagan wife, Jezebel, they led the people into all types of idolatry and immorality. However, when Ahab humbled himself before God, the Lord had mercy upon him. (I Kings 21:29) This shows all of us the abundant mercy of the Lord that He lavishes on even the most wayward souls who turn to Him in repentance.

Sometimes we think that we have sinned so badly that God won't forgive us. That is a lie of Satan. Other times, we are so ashamed of our sins that we do not think there is any need to repent. We think God won't even accept our repentance. Again, that is a lie  of the devil. God is a loving, merciful God. He loves us so much that when He does punish us, it is always in love, and usually, He punishes us less that we deserve. That is God's mercy. God is so pleased to see us respond to Him with a contrite heart and a belief that He will hear our pleas for help that He will respond and give us more than we deserve. That is His grace. Please, do not let Satan tell you there is no hope, so don't turn to the Lord. He is always waiting to hear from you.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 22 and II Kings 1-3.
