Great Spiritual Desire
God wants all believers to grow to be like Jesus. He guides us to accomplish that in the power of His Spirit, but few believers grow to truly be like Jesus. The missing link is the strong spiritual desire. If we do not have a hunger and thirst for righteousness, we will not be filled with it and grow as we should. However, if we have that strong spiritual desire like Elisha had when he asked Elijah for a "double portion" of his spirit to be upon him, we can see much growth.(II Kings 2:9) How is your spiritual desire today.
We all need to ask ourselves what we want the most in life. Are we set on earthly things like money and pleasure, or do we truly have a strong spiritual desire to be like Jesus? If we find that the desire is lacking, we need to repent of that sin of wanting to do things our way and having the wrong desires. Then, we need to submit ourselves to the Lord Jesus and humbly ask Him to make us like Him by the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Finally, we need to make that our prayer every morning, so that all day long we are focused on our Lord and our strong desire is to listen to the Spirit allowing Him to guide us and empower us to be like Jesus. This is life at its best. It is greatly pleasing to God, and it has many rewards for those who will pursue it.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 4-6.
