Created in God's Image
I hope we all realize how very special we are. We are the creation of God. We are created in His image, so that we can be like Him. (Genesis 1:27) We will never be All-Knowing and All-Powerful like Him, but we have other qualities of God, so that we can know Him and have a close personal relationship with Him. As we begin this New Year, I pray that we all can see the potential that God has built into each of us and that we will strive to maximize that potential this year.
God has given each of us the ability to reason. This ability does not just extend to figuring out the physical world around us. We are able to reason about spiritual realities and abstract ideas which are in God's mind and in His will for us. We can comprehend love. We can understand the reality of eternity, because He has put it in our hearts. We can exhibit mercy and grace and unselfishness, which are all God's traits He enables us to grasp.
Also, He gave us the ability to choose. We can't really comprehend all He has made us to be unless we choose to love Him and to trust in as our Creator and Lord. Once we choose him, the sky is the limit on what we can know and do with His power. Just think of the events in the Bible where mere humans have worked the works of God, understanding what God wanted them to do. We can do the same things.
Finally, we can have relationships with people and with God. God is love, so He made us with this quality of His so we could love Him back and walk in relationship with Him each day, like He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden before their sin. I pray that each of us will choose to have a close relationship with God each day of 2018, so that we walk with Him in His Word and prayer comprehending all of the mysteries of life, which He will unfold to His obedient children. I pray that we will all be used by God to work His works and bring a smile to His face by being holy as He is holy.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 4-6.
