Behold, Your King is Coming to You
Zechariah gave us one of the most amazing prophecies of the Bible. It is amazing because it came true exactly as he said it would, and it was such an unlikely thing to happen. It had to be God, when Jesus, the King of the Jews, came into Jerusalem on a young donkey in all humility, while being the Lord of all. (Zechariah 9:9) Zechariah told them in advance that Jesus, the King, was coming. Now, we know the Bible proclaims that one day, Jesus will come again as king to reign in Jerusalem.
The first time Jesus came, He was the humble suffering servant, who came to die for our sins. He was the King of the Jews, because He came as a descendant of King David, to defeat Satan and to set up the way of salvation for all people. Now, we know the King is coming to the world again to spend 1,000 years reigning from His throne in Jerusalem, so that all men will see His glory and know He is Lord of all. The Jews were not ready for Jesus to come the first time, even though they had this prophecy. Will be be ready for Him? The only way to be prepare is to repent of our sins, put our trust in Him as the Lord who died for us and arose, so that we surrender to Him as the King or the Lord. Then, we will live for Him each day, watching expectantly for Him to come for us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 10-12.
