A Stronghold in the Day of Trouble
We all need to learn how to take refuge in the Lord, because we all have troubles and trials. We can't handle the challenges of life on our own. We will either do the wrong thing, or we will get worn out trying to overcome in our own strength. Neither option is good. However, the prophet Nahum showed us the answer. (Nahum 1:7) If we will learn and apply what He told us, it will save us much grief in our lives.
The Lord is good. He is not against us. He is for us. He does not want to destroy anyone. He wants all to have life and have it abundantly. However, we must realize that He is our stronghold in the day of trouble. He is all-powerful, and He is all-wise, so He can handle anything. He is the One to whom we run in the day of trouble, so we can take refuge in Him. We can't fight the battles on our own. We place ourselves in His care, and He fights for us. He keeps us safe from the attacks of our enemies. The key is that it is up to us. We have to intentionally take refuge in Him. We must stop trying to conquer in our power, and we must start trusting Him completely to be our stronghold of protection. He will do it, if we turn to Him. Then, we come out the other side triumphant and refreshed, instead of defeated and depleted.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Habakkuk 1-3.
