Solomon's Conclusion
The book of Ecclesiastes is the report of Solomon's search for the meaning of life on this earth. He was the wisest man and so wealthy that he could pursue every option fully, and he did. Once he concluded his search, he came to the conclusion. (Ecclesiastes 12:13,14) We must never forget what he told us, even if we can't fully understand everything about life. Let's consider it for a minute.
"Fear God and keep His commandments." That was the bottom line. The commandments of God apply to every person. No one is exempt, even though they think they can get away with disobedience. The commandments are for our good, and God will bring every action of our lives to judgment. We can't hide anything from Him. Then, He will decide whether our actions were good or evil based on His commandments. Therefore, it is always right and profitable for us to fear the Lord and keep His commandments.
One thing that helps us do this is to remember that God loves us all. He gives us commandments not to bind us, but to set us free from a sinful life. Sin destroys. When we keep His commandments, we stay away from sin, and we do the right things that bring us the abundant life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Song of Solomon 2-4.
